Time for an update!

Tom had another MRI last week. It appears that he has had more improvement, the swelling has gone down some. There are still some areas of concern but overall the scan is stable and we are thankful, and no further seizures. Tom has been in a fair amount of pain in his muscles and joints. His oncologist thinks it is withdrawal from the steroid, Tom thinks it is from the Avastin infusions he has been getting.

We are waiting on some labs for Tom but likely he will start his 12th cycle of chemo on Saturday night. He will also keep up the Avastin infusions through the end of the year pending insurance approval. We were hoping he would be done with chemo but his doctor hinted he was leaning more toward just a break after this cycle… It’s good to stay on top of it but hard to watch him have to go through this for so long…

I started my anti-hormone treatment last week. It made me feel terrible in many different ways including feeling carsick from my own driving, but I changed to taking it at night and things have improved. As I sit here this week, I am pleased with how much better I feel already and hope it continues to improve. I am still having some swelling at my surgical/radiation site  and it could be a mild case of lymphedema. I will meet with my radiation oncologist tomorrow to talk about it more. Thankfully I am still able to dance and teach!

We have been busy busy going to the doctor nearly everyday and will continue to do so through next Wednesday and then at least I may get a break for the rest of the year. Our friend Frank has been helping out with some of the driving to appointments and it has been a game changer. We have also gotten to see some friends and do some more normal activities again which has also been lovely.

Olive is doing better after a rough summer and some health issues of her own. The turn to cooler fall weather has suited her well and she is taking longer and more frequent walks again which is good for all three of us. She’s gotten more playful again and we are thankful for our goofy girl lifting our spirits.

Doctor fatigue is real… and cancer fatigue… All I want for Christmas is a break for both of us. And world peace 😉

Thank you to everyone who continues to check in and show love and support.
